2021 Musings and looking at 2022

2022.  Wow.  Seriously, hard to believe we are here.  As we finish 2021 it feels almost like deja-vous, with so many cases and families split up for the holidays. We came all the way to Scotland to get Covid  on the 5th day and spend the next 10 days isolated from the very extended family we came to spend the holidays with. It was bitter sweet; we were lucky to be together and fine,  but I am ready for this to end and life to return to normal.  Travel be easier again, family gatherings not to involve testing, and hugs to make comeback while masks go away.  Having said that, as I reflect on this year, I realize for me has been full of so many blessings.

I like to spend a few days before the new year journaling and reflecting on:

-What went well/could have gone better last year

-Biggest lessons I’m taking away

-Who I must become to have what I want

-The new story I want to write for next year.

2021…

- I’m so grateful for the 60+ clients that trusted me blindly with their portraits, headshots, boudoir and/or legacy images. They each enriched my life in some way and as a result by work has evolved more than I imagined possible.

- Travel. Maui, Milan, and Glasgow- I was in multiple countries during a pandemic?! That is not lost on me.

- Health. Need I say more?

- This will be the year I remembered that I have the power to create the life I want. It’s not chance.

2022 is so exciting. I look forward to seeing my brand grow, work in a dream creative space, and serve my clients with all the love and art in my heart. AND DANCING!

One thing I noticed this year is how many clients have made a career shift or are thinking about making one. New businesses, embracing their dreams and launching a fresh endeavor with knowledge and hope! Statistics also indicate that more women started a business in 2020 than men.

Which is why many came to me. They needed branding photography/ portraits to use in their websites, social media, and newsletters. Each session with them was designed to represent and give the feel they wanted for the brand and industry. I was a custom process and each of them were thrilled to have so much content. So, I’m creating an entire session with a specific amount of pictures (web files only) to separate from my portrait clients that have different needs.

Your portraits should reflect you. They should give your clients confidence in your brand and who you are. They should give you a year’s worth of content and all the confidence that you are able to achieve all your dreams and are the architect of your life.

Bon Anno! -Valentina
