What will I do with photos of myself?

I’ve noticed a common theme: clients 37ish and up, sometimes ask me what they would do with photos of themselves. It’s interesting how younger women that have grown up around cel phones and selfies don’t ever mention that. To clarify, I’m 45… I used to feel the same way and then went through a year of darkness and being photographed by another photographer, going through the process and seeing myself in an album helped pull me out.

Have you ever looked at a piece of art and thought to yourself, "I wish I could see myself like that?" Well, that’s the point of boudoir photography. It is a powerful way to see ourselves as art, and to celebrate our bodies and all of their unique qualities.

One of the best things about a boudoir shoot is that it's all about celebrating your body. To embrace your curves, imperfections and all, and to see yourself in a whole new light. Because those imperfections we so often focus on? Someone that loves you thinks they are beautiful. There is something incredibly empowering about seeing beautiful, strong, and sexy images of yourself.

It's not just about the photoshoot itself – it's about what you do with the photos afterwards. Don’t get me wrong, a boudoir shoot is hella empowering and you WILL feel amazing but then what? Will we just have a bunch up digitals that sit on web/ computers?? Not with me! I will make sure you print them, because whether you choose to have them on your walls, or discreetly in a beautiful album, I want it to be a constant reminder of your beauty and worth.

“ME, on WALLS??”, you might say. Yep. Now, maybe no half nude images in your dining room but a gorgeous Italian acrylic in your bedroom, bathroom, or closet is the daily reminder that no matter how you are feeling in that moment, you are still ART. Here’s why:

It's a constant reminder of your worth. We all have moments when we feel self-conscious or unsure of ourselves. But when you have beautiful boudoir photos on your walls, it's a constant reminder of your beauty and worth.

It's empowering. Seeing ourselves as art is incredibly empowering. It's a chance to celebrate our bodies and all of their unique qualities, and to capture them as they look now… no client ever says they wish they had waited longer to do this.

It's a confidence booster. Feeling self-conscious about our bodies can take a toll on our self-esteem and confidence. But when we see ourselves as art and decorate our walls with our beauty, it normalizes our bodies and helps us appreciate them as the amazing vessels they are.

So why wait? If you've been thinking about doing a boudoir photoshoot, there's no time like the present. Whether you're doing it for yourself or someone else, it's a chance to celebrate your strength and beauty. So go ahead, embrace your body and love yourself exactly as you are. Don’t wait.
